Yesterday we dropped the biggest update yet to the beta team: the Control Panel. We originally intended to launch Statamic without it, but after a compelling discussion with our testers we concluded it was for everyone's benefit to finish it immediately before release.
Now to be clear, the power and (in my opinion) appeal of Statamic is in the ability to build a fully dynamic site with flat files alone, eliminating the need for time consuming or complicated database and application configuration. But not every client is savvy (or trustworthy) enough to be given file access, and let's face it, a clean control panel does a happy client make.
The Control Panel doesn't manage and control every aspect of building a Statamic site, but rather is focused on tending to your content (as well as members). We have lofty plans for it as time goes on, but its current iteration is very functional and flexible.
It is is completely responsive, targeting widescreen desktops all the way down to mobile and the iPhone (in both orientations). It makes for one of the most seamless management experiences we could envision.
It will also be easily theme-able (and child theme-able) and extendible. We hope our users will grow in wild and unexpected ways.
So without further ado, we'd like to show you the control panel in it's current state, in action. We hope you like it.
