Set active class on sub-nav when already setting class in if children

So I am totally new to this coming from adobe business catalyst so I apologize. I've been messing with Statamic for a week now and its blowing my mind, I love it.Quick nav question, this code works great, but when im on the about page (only one with submenu) I can't figure out how to add the active class as well as the dropdown-trigger class? I did look at this: and tried a bunch of stuff.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

<ul class="right hide-on-med-and-down">

{{ nav from="/" max_depth="2" include_home="true" hide_from_nav:isnt="true" }}

<li {{ if children }}data-target="dropdown1" class="dropdown-trigger"

{{ elseif is_current }}class="active"

{{ else }}{{ endif }}>

<a href="{{ url }}">{{ title }}</a>

{{ if children }}
<ul id='dropdown1' class="dropdown-content">
{{ if children }}
{{ *recursive children* }}
{{ /if }}
{{ /if }}

{{ /nav }}
