I deleted the assets folder in my staging site to replace it with the one from my production site. But then I accidentally opened my staging site, forgetting that i haven't downloaded the production site's assets.

Obviously, i see the images are missing. But what i didn't expect is, the {{ assets }} tags also failed to render.

I imagine even though the image files are missing, the tags will still render and I will get 404s on the image files.

Here's the source markup:

<div class="hero row justify-content-center align-items-center"{{assets:hero_image}} style="background-image: url('{{url}}');"{{/assets:hero_image}}>
    {{assets:hero_elements}}
        <img src="{{url}}" width="{{width divide='2'}}px" height="{{height divide='2'}}px" class="hero-elements {{filename | slugify}}" alt="">
    {{/assets:hero_elements}}
</div>

I expect it to renders into this.

<div class="hero row justify-content-center align-items-center" style="background-image: url('/assets/img/cover.jpg');">
    <img src="/assets/img/logo-id-idi.png" width="80px" height="35.5px" class="hero-elements logo-id-idi" alt="">
</div>

But instead, i'm seeing this:

<div class="hero row justify-content-center align-items-center">

</div>

Maybe this is by design. But is there any way to change this behaviour? I'm not comfortable with Statamic failing silently like this on broken images.

To make matters worse. The {{ assets }} tag still wont render even though the image files are already in place. Clearing the cache does nothing. Help?
