Numerous 404 errors following new installation

Max October 17, 2020 by Max

I've inherited a V2 Statamic site, and am completely new to Statamic and unsure why I'm getting numerous 404 errors when setting up my site in a new dev environment.

I'm running: PHP 7.4 Apache 2.4 Linux Centos 7

I have the suspicion I'm overlooking something obvious, if you're able to help please do!

At the moment, I can get any file that is specifically included in my root directory, ie

...to load, but almost nothing else seems to be loading. I'd expect there to be some routing applied by Laravel but it's not working yet.

Within my /statamic directory I've run composer install, which has installed cleanly, except for a disused cron package.

I've pulled my repo from my organisation's Github account, and updated the global.yaml file: site/content/globals/globals.yaml

When I go to dev.newsite.com/about, I get Apache's standard 404 message (Not Found / The requested URL /about was not found on this server).

For the images that fail to load on the homepage, Apache logs read like this: - - [17/Oct/2020:16:13:16 +0100] "GET /img/asset/bWFpbi9pbWdfNTYyMi5qcGVn?w=395&h=395&fit=crop&s=3cd13b82bf0f1fd17a2311f88864c20f HTTP/1.1" 404 232 "https://dev.newsite.com/" "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:81.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/81.0" - - [17/Oct/2020:16:13:16 +0100] "GET /img/asset/bWFpbi9tYWRkaWUtNC5qcGc=?w=746&h=720&fit=crop&s=02f8ebea979318006b37a8366c37c3f6 HTTP/1.1" 404 232 "https://dev.newsite.com "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:81.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/81.0"

I tried running https://dev.newsite.com/installer.php. The first page, where Statamic checks my system for a version of PHP and required PHP extensions is fine -- my server environment passes all requirements (except for the timezone one, which seems fine because it is optional).

In my console, I get the following two messages:

XHR GET https://dev.newsite.com/installer/permissions 404
Uncaught (in promise) Object { request: {…}, data: "

Again, I'm new to Statamic. If you have suggestions of things that I am overlooking, please send word.

Thank you, Max
