The Monthly SpookyFirehose
October, 2022
Happy Halloween! I can't speak for everyone, but my whole family is really excited to dress up and hang out with friends tonight. My wife and I are going Stranger Things themed, as one might expect of us. Other than a lot of links to share, there isn't anything particularly spooky in this newsletter except the day it is sent on. Stay safe and have fun out there!
As a housekeeping note: we moved this monthly blast to the end of the month instead of the beginning of the next month. It helps us organize our links internall, with very little direct benefit to you. Not even sure why I mention it. Or keep going on about it. Anyway — here are some recent highlights!
Highlights That Are Recent
- We shipped a new featured called Computed Values which are similar to (but more powerful than) Laravel Eloquent Attributes in many ways.
- We added a "Replace Assets" feature that allows you to swap a new asset for an existing one and update all references to it throughout your content.
- Starter Kits now support Post-Install commands so you show additional information, run extra operations, or prompt your users for configuratable actions.
- We've added numerous performance improvements, translation updates, and a fixed a whole bunch of issues.
- Berlin had their first Statamic Meetup and you can watch all 3 talks on YouTube.
- Jack McDade was on the CraftEntries podcast (weird, right?) talking about the last 10 years of Statamic
- Zuzana Kunkova is teaching Statamic development at the University of Southern California. How neat is that?
- John Koster, who wrote the new Antlers Engine, has a new book — Advanced PHP Strings: Text analysis, generation, and parsing via. Laravel. Go check it out!
- We just switched to Mailcoach Cloud to send our newsletters, and this is the first one. If you had any issues reading or receving this, please let us know so we can provide helpful feedback to Spatie!
Helping Others
As we head into the holidays we want to to do what we can to help others.
🙏 If you're able, we'd love for you to join us in raising funds to feed the working families, children, and seniors in need who face hunger every day in this country.
We’re hoping to raise $1,000 which we will match with another $1,000. If you're interested, you can donate online through Feeding America.
So far we've raised $200 (plus our matching $200). We're 20% of the way to our goal!
