Flat Camp 🏕️
Last week we hosted Flat Camp, our first ever Statamic non-conference, up in the mountains of North Carolina. It was magical, exceeding our wildest dreams. It was an incredible experience spending a few days eating, drinking, relaxing and hiking with the community.
We'd like to thank everyone who traveled from all around the world (from 10 countries!) for putting your trust in us and the idea to replace the formal lecture setting with more opportunities for conversation and relationship building. It worked, and it was life-changing in delightful and unexpected ways. 💜
We're working on compiling photos, videos, and stories from the event and we'll be sharing them soon. Oh, and next year we're doing it in Europe.
Statamic 4
Earlier this month we unleashed Statamic 4, a new major version of Statamic.
This release features lots of UI and UX improvements throughout the Control Panel, the modernization of our entire code base, and lots more.
Read all about it in our announcement blog post or watch the video highlighting new features and improvements.
Spin Up Statamic
Andrew Welch, well-known developer and content creator in the Craft CMS world unveiled a new tool at Flat Camp, Spin Up Statamic. It leverages Github Codespaces to spin up a Statamic site in the cloud, in your browser, in seconds.
There are some compelling use-cases for it:
- Personalized and completely editable Statamic demo sites
- Shipping a self-contained Statamic site to others
- Providing working example code & projects to others
- Spinning up a local Statamic project using someone else's composer.json for support
This is an awesome new tool for the Statamic community, and we're working to integrate it more closely with our documentation, starter kits, and marketplace.
The Antlers book is out! 🦌
The book about Antlers, Statamic's templating language, is now available from John Koster 🎉
Here's John's summary:
"Antlers: Building Beautiful Websites with Statamic" approaches Statamic website development through the lens of the Antlers templating language. Written by the creator of Antlers Runtime and Antlers Toolbox, this book covers common tasks, strings, loops, nuanced language features, and more to make you more productive building Statamic websites.
Get the eBook on Leanpub (free sample available) or even a printed copy on lulu for your bookshelf. 📚

The Water Cooler
“Honestly, @statamic is the best customizable CMS option right now. 👍”
“@statamic is currently my go-to CMS for Web Development. Wow! What a tool! The developer experience is amazing, and the content editing experience is super awesome, IMHO. 😍 Thanks, @jackmcdade for creating such an amazing tool.”
“Great job @jackmcdade! @statamic and its #flatcamp is definitely here to stay!”
“After Statamic #flatcamp my MacBook got some nice new Statamic stickers! 🤩”
“If you are not aware yet, Statamic 4 is here 😎 Still the best Laravel CMS i ever used”
“I built http://jasonorton.com on @statamic v1 back in July 2014 and it's still going strong 9 years later with only minor maintenance. Curious to see how long it can stay up. It was the first site I built on a CMS and it spurred my web dev work proper work from a hobby.”
“Finally back home again after an amazing @statamic Flat Camp in the US ♥️♥️♥️”
“Just updated the Laravel News site. Took like 3 mins. 😍”
“I built a blog for my girlfriend using @statamic, and it was a game-changer. No backend code, no database, blazing-fast, no need to worry about backups - just pure flexibility to design your ideal blog structure.”
“Love of @statamic & @laravelphp made us create this beautiful CRM for our #realestate customers. We are featured in April firehose 🤗 Its been fun and crisp ride, kudos to gems @acquaintsoft”
“Statamic is where it’s at!”
“We finally broke our marketing site out of our rails app and went with Statamic. Absolutely best option. I’ve used Jekyll and Middleman (both Ruby based). Fine for simple solo use. They can’t meet needs of a SaaS marketing site imo.”
“Love Statamic. ❤️ Congrats on the release! 🎉”
“@statamic takes the cake. Every single page on their website oozes with hot pink creativity. I particularly love this page: http://statamic.com/vs/wordpress”
“So impressed by @johnmkoster's rad and romantic @statamic Antlers book 🦌”
“Totally forgot to tweet/flex about the @statamic gift I received at @LaraconEU a few months ago :) Such a great present! Such a bad color for someone having a white hairy cat... :)”
“Just wanna shout a huge thanks to @_duncanmcclean for he's incredible work with @statamic and Runway. The attention and speed with which he addresses the issues we point out make it feels like he's part of our team at our company.”
“Contributing to no other newsletter brings me so much joy as this one. Thanks for mentioning my work twice this month (the @kinsta App Hosting starter and the @astrodotbuild headless integration).”
“Been playing with @statamic and loving it! I’ve been trying to put it through it’s paces with typical client requests and it’s been so nice to work with. As a Laravel dev primarily, I’m hoping to move away from Wordpress completely on new business site projects 🤞”
“This is incredible, fantastic work. Dreams coming true 💫”
“The Statamic homepage is a work of art.”
