~ The February Newsletter 🌷 ~

Hello there! Thank you for welcoming us into your inbox again. It's time for your monthly update as February comes to a close. We have some big updates to share, so let's get into it.

Statamic 6 Progress

We've got some good momentum going. So far we've finished upgrading the control panel to Vue 3, switched from Vuex to Pinia, setup some fresh new code styling automation, dropped Carbon 2 and other out of date dependencies, and have made good progress on rolling out our new design component system to make the Control Panel more beautiful and easier to extend. Think our own Statamic-flavored Shadcn powered by Vue 3.

Jay George Joins The Core Team 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇬🇧

Jack and Jay at Flat Camp EU 2024 in Italy

The Statamic Core Team just grew by +1! Jay George, a super talented designer, developer, and long-time community member, joins us to level up our design even more and take some work off of Jack's shoulders. This past few months has already been working on our docs relaunch that's almost ready to ship. More about him in our announcement blog post on statamic.com.

Say hi and congratulate him on our Discord, if you happen to run into him. 😊

Laravel 12 & Tailwind CSS 4 🚀

While we are hard at work on Statamic 6, we just released Statamic 5.49.0 which brings support for both Laravel 12 and Taildwind CSS 4. That's right, you didn't even have to wait for Statamic 6 to use the shiny new Laravel 12!

Head over to GitHub to get all the details about the release right here.

Talking Statamic by Michael LaRoy 🎙️

Talking Statamic podcast social card image

Beloved community member and Vancouverite Michael LaRoy, known for his WordPress to Statamic YouTube channel, just launched a new podcast called “Talking Statamic”. Jack was the inaugural guest and the lineup for the upcoming episodes looks pretty rad (we caught a glimpse at it 👀)! So go ahead and subscribe on Spotify or your podcatcher of choice.

Laravel Cloud ⛅️

Announced by Taylor Otwell at Laracon US in Dallas last year, Laravel Cloud is now publicly available to everyone. With fair pricing and simplicity in mind, it's probably the way to deploy your future projects or even migrate existing ones. Wanna give it a try with your Statamic site? Have a look at our docs for a deployment guide. The only caveat right now is that it doesn't work with our flat-file Git automation yet. You can use our Eloquent driver and store content in the database in the meantime.

“You guys are simply the best”

“It's nothing special, though. A simple Laravel application made with TailwindCSS and some AlpineJS sprinkles. However, I also migrated it to Statamic and I've been pleasantly surprised! It's an awesome CMS, with the full power of Laravel under the hood. Definitely recommend it!”

“Can't wait, thanks Mike Laroy for creating this podcast (Talking Statamic) for us in the Statamic world and everyone curious about Statamic. The countdown to next week has begun.”

“Today's learning: you can use a computed property of a Statamic Entry to inject a value in to the Collection's routing. Meaning I can have entries that theoretically are dynamically mounted able to actually, well, dynamically mount. Neato.”

“Can confirm, 10 years later and still a huge fan of Statamic!”

“So, after doing a bit of research, I decided to give Statamic a try, and so far, I'm loving it! If you're a WordPress user curious about what other CMSs have to offer, I highly recommend giving it a look.”

“The Statamic framework is awesome. Even dump is sexy. 5/5 would recommend.”

“I’ve switched to Statamic exclusively for my sites and my clients! Much better experience than Wordpress!”

“I'm happy to announce that I launched a new website a few days ago! The website has both summer and winter editions, which the owner can switch between with a single click. Everything on the website is very customisable, and all of this is possible because it's powered by Statamic - in other words, the best CMS out there right now. Pssst... be careful! If you try it, you might never look at another CMS again.”

“Dare I say it have we found our go to replacement for WordPress, we only had to use WordPress on a few smaller sites that we had built but Statamic gives us one big advantage, it's built on Laravel so it means we can utilise all our Laravel knowledge when we're developing meaning we can quickly develop none CMS areas of the application in the same code base it's a win win for us.”
