URL Structure & Your Content Directory

How URLs are made.

Your Content Directory

Your site’s content folder (_content by default, although this can be changed in your general site settings) is where you’ll keep all of your content. Statamic will look in this folder and use the files within to generate your pages.

URL Structure

Your website’s URL structure is the same as the structure of your _content folder — just like a standard static site. The difference in Statamic is that instead of index.html being your default folder file, it’s page.md (or whichever _content_type you’ve set in your general site settings).

Want to create an about page, for example? Make an about folder in your _content folder and add a page.md file to it. Boom, done. Of course, you’ll want to add some content to this page, but that’s how easy it is to create new pages.
