The MonthlyFirehose

September, 2023

Summer has come and passed, at least in the Northern Hemisphere. Not much longer until you see the first fallen leaves on the walkways and sit down in front of the fire place while the cold november rain pours outside.

But donโ€ฒt be afraid of the dark! There's a hot-pink light at the end of the tunnel. Go into the light.

We have some pretty news this month over here at Statamic HQ, like our new hire:

Say Hello to Duncan McClean ๐ŸŽ‰

Duncan McClean in front of a harbor with the Loch Ness Monster lurking in the background

We all know there can be only one. And we got him, finally! Hailing from Glasgow, Scotland ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ, Duncan has been a big part of the Statamic community for quite some time. After 3 years of hard work, weโ€™ve finally managed to convince Duncan McClean to join Team Statamic!

Head over to our blog for more details and congratulate him ๐Ÿ’œ

That brings the count of Core Team members now up to 5 coinciding with other awesome teams of five, like the Scooby-Doo Gang, The Jackson Five, the Power Rangers, or the *NSync.

Campaign Monitor and Shopify Rad Pack Addons ๐Ÿš€

The three Deers of the Rad Pack

The Rad Pack launched just a few weeks ago and in the month of September it gained two new Addons:

  1. The Campaign Monitor integration allows you to connect your Statamic forms and user registrations with the popular email marketing platform.
  2. The Shopify addon making it easy-peasy to connect your site to their world-class solution for e-commerce. Initially built by Jack Whiting, it got incorporated and cleaned up by the combined powers of the Rad Pack.

Curious what the Rad Pack is? Read our blog post on it.

And huge thanks to everyone who worked on those addons! ๐Ÿ™

Did someone say Flat Camp EU? ๐Ÿ‘€

We recently started with the planning for the next iteration taking place in Europe. The list of potential places has been narrowed down to about a handful and we target the end of May or early June 2024.

That's all we can share right now. Stay tuned.

The Water Cooler

Obviously @statamic ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Use @statamic instead.

FYI: @johnmkoster is the real deal. Also check out his blade and antlers formatters, language servers, etc!

@johnmkoster being MVP of Statamic community is his hobby ๐Ÿ˜‚

Why use WordPress? @statamic is a much better Laravel alternative

Yesterday, I released a new blog post about a custom Statamic cache system I use across my projects. It's been released as a six-part series, covering each implementation detail along the way. The result is a cache system that delivers near-static cache speeds but still lets you make changes via. a text editor and have the cache invalidate itself ๐Ÿฅณ

Continuing my @statamic personal site journey today. So far things are looking and working great. The fact that it is based on @laravelphp really has me right at home. Even though it's not needed. I see my own paid license in my future. Great job!

If you go down the PHP route, don't fall into the trap of a separate tool for the blog. Stick to Laravel & use something like @statamic if you want super powered blog functionality. The mental gymnastics to keep WP straight in your head while also writing custom stuff is not fun!

From the trenches of code slaying @statamic continues to amaze me. That is all.

Over 300 installs for my @statamic pacakage. Thank you all โค๏ธ

Have you not heard of @Statamic, @PovilasKorop? ๐Ÿ˜œ It offers a seamless editing experience and blends beautifully with Laravel. Maybe it could be the perfect solution for such a "demanding" client while saving you a week of work. Just a thought! ๐Ÿ˜‰ #Statamic #WebDev

If you're building a real estate site with @statamic, you'll love our upcoming starter kit! Coming soon!

This @ploi_deploy user seems to like @statamic ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ˜Ž

A big thanks to @marcorieser for most of the work, helping to update to @LaravelLivewire 3 so it plays nice with the @statamic Antlers parser ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿคฉ We are looking forward getting feedback and bug reports ๐Ÿค

If you do not like WordPress then please give a try to @Statamic. Here I have explored more on different CMSes.

Me: I need to write some complex functionality for this website #Statamic: No worries, just dive into Laravel my friend. Fill your boots Me: What about you? Are you not going to make things tricky? Statamic: No way dude! I wont get in your way...see you when you need me! I love this CMS!! ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ

@Statamic FTW! - that is it.. that's the tweet

Using @statamic for the first time while building out getpositivepay.com What a great CMS. Easy to setup and get going. Great docs. #webdev
