The Statamic 6 Beta

The Statamic 6 Beta

The Beta is here and Stable is right around the corner.

Today we tagged the Statamic 6 beta. πŸš€

We ran an extra-long Alpha Phase (21 releases to be exact) so as many developers as possible could have time to test it out, get their addons upgrade-ready, and be aware of the breaking changes from v5. No more rushing. No chaos. No surprises.

For this reason, I fully expect the Beta Phase to be quite short, relatively speaking. We're done making breaking changes β€” it's now just up to you, our community, to give it a go and let us know if we missed anything of vital importance that would prevent us from tagging the final stable build.

These would be (implausible but not impossible) things like – we accidentally deleted a whole feature unintentionally and didn't document it as a breaking change, a fatal error occurring on upgrade, and so on.

If you run into something like that, please open an issue! Otherwise sit tight, that stable label is coming real soon.

How to try out the Statamic 6 beta.

Honestly, the easiest way would be to just ask Claude Code to upgrade your project to Statamic 6 Beta, but if you want to do it by hand (we still love and mostly prefer to do things by hand), all you need to do is update your statamic/cms dependency constraint in your composer.json file to the following:

"statamic/cms": "^6.0"

And then run the following from the terminal:

composer update statamic/cms --with-dependencies

Statamic 6 does require the minimum version of 8.3 for PHP and 12 Laravel.

You may want to read the entire upgrade guide.

You can also read more about how we spent 2025 working on Statamic 6 and what's included in it. Cheers!
