Statamic Meetup Alkmaar

Statamic Meetup Alkmaar

People from the Statamic community gathered for a meetup in Alkmaar to enjoy presentations, pizza, swag, and good community vibes.

Earlier this month almost 50 people gathered just outside of Amsterdam in the lovely city of Alkmaar for a Statamic meetup hosted by our friends at JustBetter. A huge Thank You to them for opening their doors for an evening full of community, code, and nerding out together.

Along the good company, there were drinks, an abundance of pizza (sadly none with pineapple), and swag like stickers, and even some adorable Ploi.io elePHPants for people to take home.

Both Duncan and Joshua from the Core Team made the trip to hang out with everyone. Mostly attended by people from the Netherlands, the love for Statamic knows no borders so some folks from Germany, Belgium, and even a fella from Ireland were there. You love to see it. 🇳🇱🇩🇪🇧🇪🇮🇪

The Talks

Roy + Runway

The evening kicked off with Roy from JustBetter, who gave a talk about Runway — one of Duncan’s creations and part of the Rad Pack addons. Runway lets you manage your Laravel Eloquent models directly inside Statamic’s Control Panel — no hassle, just seamless integration.

After a general overview of the addon itself, Roy also showed how they utilize it with Rapidez, a headless Magento integration for Laravel and Statamic.

Duncan + Cargo

Next up was Duncan McClean, who introduced Cargo, his completely overhauled e-commerce addon for Statamic. If you’ve ever used Simple Commerce before, you’ll know that the name "Simple" was a bit of an understatement — and Cargo is taking things to a whole new level. Up to eleven, one might say. It’s simple to use but powerful under the hood, and it’s currently in alpha, set to launch alongside Statamic 6.

Joshua + Statamic 6

To wrap things up, Joshua Blum demoed what’s coming in Statamic 6 — walking through changes, new features, and showing off a few things. If you're interested in what's new in Statamic 6, have a look at our sneak peek post. Since we published it, we've actually added a ton more stuff.

The Community

When the talks were wrapped up, the mingling began and pizza got delivered. After people made sure their bellies were full, folks gathered in a side room to show off some of the cool stuff they’ve been building with Statamic. It’s always awesome to see what the community is doing out in the wild.

What’s Next?

All in all, it was a great evening full of learning, chatting, and meeting people you know from the internet IRL. Thanks again to everyone who attended and especially to JustBetter for hosting!

We’ve got more meetups in the works, and we might even be brewing plans for Flat Camp #3. 👀

If you’d like to host a Statamic meetup, we’d love to help. Reach out to us at [email protected]. We're happy to cover expenses for food and drinks (within reason of course), send some swag, and help promote your event. You can also find past and upcoming ones on our /events page.

Until next time — keep shippin' and stay awesome! 💜
